From FreeThoughtPedia
Contents |
Definition
An appeal to pity is an attempt to use the other party's pity instead of logic to support a conclusion or claim. The argument does not necessarily have to be false but is generally unrelated to the conclusion.
Examples
- Telling a traffic officer: "I'm having a really bad day, I don't deserve a speeding ticket."
