This fallacy is committed when someone argues that A caused B, when in fact C causes both A and B.
Examples
- A doctor may conclude that a build up of bacteria is the cause of a patient's illness when in fact a virus has compromised the patient's immune system causing the patient's illness and the build up of bacteria.
